MIND-BENDING - An Insane Story
While some of us are gliding through space and time, experiencing this beautiful blue and green covered planet with awe and wonder, there are currently over 150 million earthlings taking prescribed psychoactive drugs every single day
Weirdly they don't seem bothered these drugs are proven to be addictive, make you suicidal, lethargic or induce violent and homicidal behaviour. That's right, anti depressants which replace depression with suicide and violence, how's that for a warped trick!
The obvious question is; why would anyone accept these side effects? The answer is simple - they've been promised these drugs will help them overcome their mental or emotional problems. The figures become far uglier when you notice the number of children being given psychotropic drugs - over 17 MILLION under-16 and over 1 million under 6-years-old!!
Most common disorders range from Depression and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder)
to Bipolar and Anxiety disorders. ADD/ADHD. These are categorised into two sets of behavioural pattens in children.
1. inattentiveness. 2. hyperactivity and impulsiveness. Just take a look at the following list of symptoms, as recommended by American and British psychologist - the words in red are copied directly from official government health sites
The symptoms of ADHD in children and teenagers are well defined, and usually noticeable before age 6. They occur in more than one situation, such as at home and at school. The main signs of each behavioural problem are detailed below:
Inattentiveness
The main signs of inattentiveness are:
having a short attention span and being easily distracted
making careless mistakes for example, in school work
appearing forgetful or losing things
being unable to stick at tasks that are tedious or time-consuming
appearing to be unable to listen to or carry out instructions
constantly changing activity or task
having difficulty organising tasks
Hyperactivity and Impulsiveness
The main signs of hyperactivity and impulsiveness are:
being unable to sit still, especially in calm or quiet surroundings
constantly fidgeting
being unable to concentrate on tasks
excessive physical movement
excessive talking
being unable to wait their turn
acting without thinking
interrupting conversations
little or no sense of danger
Oh, come on!!! Any rational person must agree this list is pretty typical behaviour for every child and most teenagers,
and frankly, as most parents know, it's surprising if children under 6 years old don't show at least three of these symptoms on a daily basis!
You'd have to be extremely cruel to class any young child as having a disorder based on this list. Yes, there are children with emotional problems, but surely as human beings, we cannot accept a mind-altering drug is the answer.
There's a massive police record of severe acts of violence by young people, while on psychotropic drugs, not to mention the thousands upon thousands of unrecorded violent acts against family members (see sample list below)
Let's take a quick glance at the history of psychologist…
Early psychologist believed mental issues were caused by an imbalance of the humorous, claiming the best treatment was bleeding the patient using knives or leeches...not successful at all
Then they said mental problems were caused by organs such as the tonsils, stomach or the spleen, claiming the best treatment was to cut them out, again no success...patients kept dying!
Next, they attempted to alter brain functions with surgery, not surprisingly this led to significant brain damage and deaths!
In the 1970's they turned to pills, amphetamines to be exact, not only were these ineffective, but highly addictive and extremely damaging. They finally had to stop when they could no longer ignore the vast amount of suicides taking place
For the past 25 years, they've used another story...
claiming disorders are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, which can be restored with a pill
So what about this chemical imbalance theory? Well after almost 25 years of intense research, not one single independent study has proven this theory to be true - and who exactly is telling us this is a genuine disorder? Yes, you guessed it, psychiatrists. The same people who have been wrong throughout their entire medical history!
No blood, urine or chemical imbalance test exists today nor has it ever existed. Please explain, how can a drug correct something which has never medically, physically or scientifically proven to exist? And how the hell does a psychiatrist know you have this chemical imbalance in your brain by just talking to you?
Sigmund Freud once told people cocaine was the answer to many problems, in his 1884 paper "On Coca" - it was later revealed Freud was financially sponsored by the drug company selling cocaine - Just like Freud 130 years ago, today's drugs are being pushed for the same reason…
Every single psychoactive drug on the market currently grosses at least 7.7 million dollars per day, yes per day!
A whopping 330 billion dollars each year. A horrific money-munching, poison distribution business, killing an estimated 500,000 people a year and causing around 5 million people to suffer severe and catastrophic side effects
It may be time to mention, if you are taking one of these drugs, officially you are deemed medically insane...
The insanity is letting a bunch of Physiologists, with a massive fail rate history to give us medical advice. Perhaps this is where the real war on drugs should be fought?
There can be a space for psychotherapy. The idea of talking through your problems with a trained professional is undoubtedly an effective way of dealing with issues for some people. Many do practice this way and want nothing to do with big pharma companies and their tricky pills
Hanging around on this planet can be extremely challenging. It often involves making difficult choices. Some choices are made by others which affect you. Sometimes the consequences are lovely, and others hit you like a thunderbolt
However, if these problems are not a direct threat to your life, as terrible as they may seem at that moment, with time, understanding, kindness or the right purpose - it will pass. You will recover, and things will slowly get better
Deep down we know life's challenges must be solved with empathy, love, compassion, a change of circumstances or environment. They cannot be fixed with drugs.
If you or a loved one are recommended psychoactive drugs if you are taking them or giving them to your children
please please explore the many alternative ways of dealing with the dilemmas and drama's which come with living on a beautifully complex little planet
We cannot promise it will be easy, but we can promise, you won't be insane!
